Every year on the Summer Solstice, we have a festival to burn the wishes collected in the Wishing Barrel in a bonfire, with more wine and best wishes. Directly inspired by Tucson’s famous Day of the Dead Parade, we’ll watch our wishes go up with the embers into the clear, starry skies of Sonoita.

We’ll have a beer tasting exercise, should be a good time. Bring a glass if you’d like but I’ll have some plastic cups available as well.
I’ll have commercial examples of the three beer styles for the contest and as always, bring some homebrew and a camping chair.

The Buffalo Brew Club will be hosting the 2013 Summer Smash Competition. This is a great opportunity for the Southern Arizona Homebrewers to get together to discuss homebrew, get feedback on our brewing, and get to know each other. The competition is open to all brewers and follows Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) guidelines. Note that the BJCP guidelines have been modified to accept only the listed categories (10, 14, and 15). No mail-in entries will be accepted only drop-off entries will be accepted from Friday August 2nd through Saturday August 10th at 2PM with the judging and awards on Saturday August 10, 2013.
We’re combining two of the craziest events from last year into one completely insane event: The Bad Decisions bacon, chocolate and booze event and the Perseids Meteor Shower party. Wine tasting, s’mores, astronomy geekery, camping, and live music!
Holding to our fine tradition of pairing things that are unhealthily amazing (Cheetos, cupcakes), we are pairing chocolates, bacon, wine, and beer. We’ll also have a food cart (TBA), and as always a local microbrewery adding to the alcohol selection. Naturally for a campout, you get to stay overnight! No DD required!
The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at their peak. The shower will come from the northeast after about midnight. In the morning, we’ll enjoy muffins and mimosas.
Kids will get snacks, crafts, movies and games until 10pm, not to mention our own kids’ own soda and candy factory the Sober Shack.
It will be epic! Don’t miss out!

A big-league wine and beer festival featuring craft beer, barefoot grape-crushing, live music, Hops & Vines’ amazing wine, and delicious food from Southern Arizona’s huge food cart community. As always, the Sober Shack will be serving up super special sodas and Sno-Cones with activities to keep kids busy!
$20 entry includes tickets for food and drinks.
