Formed in 1998, the TSO’s Percussion Quartet has become an audience favorite throughout Southern Arizona.  This lively ensemble uses a mix of marimbas, drums, vibraphones, and other percussion instruments to perform music from around the globe.  Repertoire includes an eclectic mix of jazz, pop, classical, and contemporary music, all colorfully performed by percussion.NewTSOlogo-large

The main event is a sprint race by the best-dressed runners you’ll ever find: Drag Queens! On top of the drag race, we’ll have a DJ, food trucks, wine created by us, beer by Dillinger Brewing, and the annual release of our Drag Queen–a wine co-fermented with our very own hops. It’ll be a wine dressed up like a beer!

Anyone can run! Show up in your best drag with your sexiest running heels and be ready to race!

A portion of our proceeds go to support the Colby Olsen Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing awareness to the issues surrounding our LGBTQ community. Come drink and support!

Our Monkeys, Our Circus.



Procrastinate on a Mother’s Day gift? Let us help you out, your mom wants wine. We’re bringing together all of our friends, family, and favorite customers to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. The theme this year is Our Monkeys, Our Circus, so that means live circus performers, awesome bands, and our favorite restaurants and brewery. Enjoy our patio, feed some animals, and drink some alcohol, fun and debauchery for all! We have so many awesome wine, beer and food pairings this year, featuring local restaurants like Mama’s Hawaiian BBQ, The Café Sonoita, Whoops Bakery, Brushfire BBQ, Queen Ceviche, J’s Chicken & Waffles, just to name a few. Beer Lovers… we will have Dillinger Brewing Co.’s pride and joy, their Serrano Seduction and their Strong Arm Ale. And as always, we’ll be featuring our awesome wines… and we’ll be celebrating our newest release, Ro-Sham-Bo, a fruit-forward, interesting Refosco. Live music with the high-energy, Santa Pachita, as well as the local hometown favorite, The Grasslands Band. It’s a family affair… we’ll have The Sober Shack open with homemade sodas and cotton candy, and the kids can check out all of our weird farm animals, feed some baby goats, and we’ll even have a moon bounce! This event is a lot of fun for retirees looking to taste some great wine, couples who want to get out and have fun, families that love wine but can’t find a babysitter, and twenty-somethings and Wildcats looking to hear some good music and drink great beer and wine, without having to deal with rude people, packed bars, and other unpleasantness. Get out to Sonoita this weekend and we promise you won’t regret it!

Check out the new wine we’ll be releasing! Ro-Sham-Bo, a 2015 Refosco with New Mexico fruit. This ruby red lucious wine with hints of dried fig, sour cherry, and cocoa beans is firm and well-structured, with pleasant tannins. Our Ro-Sham-Bo would pair well with fried pickles, sun-dried Bruschetta, peppered flank steak, or Talenti Black Cherry Gelato you discretely picked up late night from Walgreens. Trying to make any decisions… rock, paper, scissors and this wine will turn every bad decisions into a good one.

We’re bringing out our Glüwein! It’s perfect for chilly Christmas days and nights, because it’s served hot. And the “glü” in there means “glow” not “paste,” describing the warm glow that comes from drinking it.

Let’s Make Bad Decisions

We’re closing in on our biggest event of the year, our 2015 Bad Decisions Campout & Meteor Shower. Holding to our fine tradition of pairing things that are unhealthily amazing (Cheetos, cupcakes), we are pairing chocolate, bacon, cheese, wine, and beer. The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at their peak. The shower will come from the northeast after about midnight. In the morning, we’ll enjoy muffins and mimosas.


$25 for Bad Decisions (noon-7pm), includes souvenir glass and ten tasting tickets. Anyone under 21 is FREE. Bacon, treats, chocolate, and all other food is not included.

$60 for the whole shebang (this is per person pricing)- souvenir glass, ten tasting tickets, and campsite. (food not included). Roll in around 10AM to set up your campsite, but the Bad Decisions party will officially kick off at noon.

If you’re camping overnight and bringing your kids, then sign them up for Kids Camp for the night- dinner, snacks, crafts, movies and games from 6pm to 10pm, not to mention our own kids’ soda and candy factory, The Sober Shack will be open. Kids Camp is $25 and is open from 6pm to 10pm. Dinner is included with the Kids Camp ticket. If you don’t sign them up for camp, that’s cool too… kids are still free to enjoy the campout!

Mike and Paul have been hard at work training up the young vines, weeding, and suckering.


Dara and Craig have been workin’ the hops. This year we will have a bumper crop.

VINEYARD 411: Suckering is one of the most critical steps in shaping the vine and adjusting the crop load for the year. Vines tend to push out suckers (also known as shoots) from random points and those suckers are removed, so that the vine is stripped back to the 4 to 5 shoots per foot of cordon that is ideal for proper vine growth.

Interested in learning more? Vineyard tours will run all day at our 4th Annual Bacchanal Festival on Saturday, May 9th. Either way, stop by and check out the vines… it’s where all the magic happens!


What varietals do we grow at Arizona Hops & Vines?

We primarily grow reds. Mainly a lot of Cabernet Sauvingnon, however we also grow Petit Verdot, Montepulciano, Graciano, Cabernet Franc, Touriga Nationale, Mourvedre, Grenache, and a couple white varietals: Malvasia and Orange Muscat.

What hops do we grow at Arizona Hops & Vines?

Cascade, Willamette, Brewers Gold, Nugget, Centennial AND a native Arizona hop!

Wow, as usual it’s been busy! We won Arizona Republics Critic’s Choice for Best Tasting Room… no big deal. We have sold out of Motherlove and The Temptress, and we are almost out of Merci (syrah) and our Drag Queen. We are running low on Imbibe… so all you Imbibe.2 lovers… stock up now!



The Rational

The Rational, a robust Nebbiolo/Montepulciano blend. We named this wine for our Dad, who was the logical/math loving man who molded us into his opposite! Love you, Dad.

WINE TASTING 411: Impress someone with your wine IQ. Despite what you may have heard, wine legs or ‘tears’ are not an indication of quality wine. It’s actually a scientific phenomenon that can tell you key information about the alcohol level in wine. Sweeter wines are more viscous the tears will flow slower down the sides of a glass.

Next up is bottling our new Chardonnay, called Namasté. It’s a medium bodied wine with hints of fig, tropical fruits, and a buttery mouth feel. Also on the horizon, we are bottling a richer, sweet port-style dessert wine. Higher in alcohol, this decadent wine is a departure from our usual dry, red wines. The day to day in the winery usually consists of maintaining our current wines in production. Megan, our winemaker, can be found in our winery, testing, gassing, tasting, or racking our wines.

Winemaking 411: Racking is a traditional method of moving wine from from one barrel to another using gravity instead of a pump. It’s a labor-intensive method, but the process helps soften tannins (what makes wine dry), clarify the wine, and enhance aromatic qualities.




Our 4th Annual Bacchanal Festival is coming up this weekend- Saturday, May 9th! We have so many awesome wine, beer and food pairings this year, featuring local restaurants like The Cafe, Route 82 Mexican Market, The Vineyard Cafe, The Chuckwagon, Russell’s Texas BBQ, & Chivas Mias. We’ll also have Isabella’s Ice Cream, Pin-Up Pastries, Felize’s Shrimp Ceviche & Chipotle Salsa- all from Tucson. BEER LOVERS… we will have Gaffel Kolsch, Delirium, and our home brewers, The Buffalo Club. It’s a family affair… we’ll have The Sober Shack open with snacks and drinks, cotton candy, a moon bounce, baby goats to feed, and other activities for kids. Live music featuring The County Line & The Jim Koweek Band.
